Karela office building in Athens

Spending time in a roof herb garden may not be something you associate being able to enjoy within working hours. However, at the new Karela office building in Athens you can, but that isn’t the only feature that the 1000+ staff that work there will benefit from, in this the first LEED gold-certificated building in Greece.

The brief demanded the building incorporated advanced technology and sustainable ideas. The completed project included many unique features such as an internal wastewater treatment plant and a rainwater collection system for irrigation and the toilets.

Providing expert advice to this project at every stage of its development was Grundfos Pumps who supplied in excess of 80 pumps to support the completed solution. As a full-line supplier Grundfos were selected because they were able to provide the required range of energy efficient pumps to effectively deliver all the applications. These included: air conditioning, pressure boosting, wastewater requirements and the fire suppression system.

This project epitomises what can be achieved with foresight and a willingness to embrace the most energy efficient technology available and with partners such as Grundfos that can help you to realise your ambitions.
